They say hearts of stone never break!
The Leaves is the story of a man who grows plants in the heart of the rocks. Every day, 60 year old Qaem takes saplings from his home and plants them on the foothills of the Tehran mountains. He waters them from a nearby river. Years ago, Qaem had decided to commit suicide, but a new found dedication to nature changed his mind.

Hamid Jafari, born in 1971 in Mahshahr, Iran, is an Iranian film director and producer. He studied Cinema at Sooreh University in Tehran and began making films in the early 1990s. His 2016 film The Rock won the Most Innovative Short Film Award at Visions du Réel.
